Ring Size Chart & Sizing Guide

Two truths about ring sizing: most people don't know theirs, and it almost never needs to block the purchase. Every Ghavelli ring includes one free resize within the first year — order your best estimate and we'll perfect it.

US ring size chart

US size Inside diameter Inside circumference
5 15.7 mm 49.3 mm
5.5 16.1 mm 50.6 mm
6 16.5 mm 51.9 mm
6.5 16.9 mm 53.1 mm
7 17.3 mm 54.4 mm
7.5 17.7 mm 55.7 mm
8 18.1 mm 57.0 mm
8.5 18.5 mm 58.3 mm
9 19.0 mm 59.5 mm

We make every ring in sizes 5–9, including half sizes. Outside that range? Ask us — most designs can be made to order in extended sizes.

Measuring at home

Method 1 — a ring that already fits

Take a ring worn on the same finger of the same hand, lay it over the chart's diameters (a printable version is coming — TODO: add printable PDF), or measure its inside diameter with a ruler against the table above. This is the most reliable home method.

Method 2 — the string test

Wrap a strip of paper or non-stretch string snugly where the ring will sit, mark the overlap, measure the length in millimetres, and match it to the circumference column. Measure twice; err toward the larger size.

Getting it right

  • Fingers run smaller in the cold and larger in heat, after salt, and in the evening. Measure at day's end, at room temperature.
  • The ring should slide on smoothly and resist slightly at the knuckle coming off.
  • Wide bands wear tighter — go up a quarter-to-half size for anything over 6 mm.
  • Keeping the proposal a surprise? Borrow a ring from the right finger, trace its inside circle on paper, or recruit a friend with steadier nerves. And remember the free resize — a close guess is good enough.

Still torn between two sizes? Choose the larger. Sizing down is the easier alteration.
